Fascinating by animals and cats particularly, persuaded since I was 8 to become a veterinary surgeon, my parents, their dogs, and some natural obstinacy, permitted to realize my dream.
Adopt wandered dogs, kittens rescue from euthanasia at the emergency of the Maisons-Alfort veterinary surgeon school, or wounded birds, or horses were doomed to the slaughterhouse, is not always easy in Parisian tight places where I spend the first decade of my live... but the passion could make a lot of things.
1 – My first cat breeds
My husband went in Dordogne in 1996; He found us a big, old and lovely ( "Charterhouse", as we say in Perigord), in disastrous condition, in the middle of 5 hectares of a park, at the height of a very welcoming village.
As he liked “charterhouses “, I gave him, in return, at his first birthday: Ninsk 12 years old. After founding a large “silver mouse Chartreux “ family, she spend a happy retirement with her eldest son, ”Picto “ the black, souvenir of a youth sin, her daughter « Rubéole », and her amazing old Italian male “ Dino “ (immigrated thanks to the Aquitania Cat Club), its too "retired from cars".
During this period, I fell for a young red male Abyssinian. I gave it to my husband, whose was surprised by its mischievous and its gentle, he named it Roseval.
But when my third child was born, I preferred to sterilize all of my cats and stop my breeding because I couldn’t assume my activity in a familial environment.
2 – Cats of LAXION
Five years after, children grow up: they love cats (who would have thought of it ?). Now the house is comfortable. And this passion for architecture which led to Perigord, permit us to realize our dream, our project during 6 dogged years, acquiring the lovely ruin of castle of Laxion.
Do you believe that? It is an historic fact: (cf. François Le Nail in Rastignac, éd. Pilote 24, pp. 15 and 16, quote himself from Hozier and the Universal Nobilaire) the founder’s family of the Laxion Castle in Perigord was from Limousine in the ninth century (as my husband ;from the limousine, not thousand year old !) and named CAT (old French) or CHAT (cat in French), became CHAPT it was the younger arm of RASTIGNAC ,in Perigord...
Abon CAT ARMAT : what does it mean ? Originally clawed cat, or brass ram (roman war engine), in fact it was a big cat, a silver languet lion and with gold crown which is represented on the coat of arms of Chapt de Rastignac. The last representing person of this big and noble deceased family, pair of France during the Empire period, rebuilt the castle from Perigord origins. (not the Laxion Castle, the one of Rastignac, in Bachellerie, at 10 leagues) according to an architectural model : no more not less than the White House, and before its construction in Washington…
So I returned to my feline’s passion and the cats breeding. Profits from the cats breeding will use to the restoration of the CHAPT castle.
3 – The return of breed cats
Nowadays three breed enthusiastic me for their physiques and characters:
- the Abyssinian
- the Bengal
- the ragdoll.
I like the Abyssinian, because it is a little supple cat, tonic, mischievous, affectionate, as a dog in its manners to follow you and request cuddles.
I like the Bengal for its panther coat (I prefer cats with donuts than cats with spots, mater of taste and not of standards ), as gentle as its voice is hoarse, its astonishing intelligence(it takes a few time before it knows how to open a door)its strength and its asserted character, without any aggressiveness against humans and children.
I like the Ragdoll, I discovered it by accident, as a daily companion. One of my customers let her breeding, and she had really beautiful cats, I recovered 4 (3 females and one male) . It is a living soft toy, always free to its master, with its beautiful blue eyes and great class contrasts.
